From March 14 to 18, 2024, Professor Li Xiaolin, Co-President of Yonghui Institute, was invited to lead a delegation to Macao for the 17th Asian Sport for All Association (ASFAA) Congress. This visit marked anotHis in-depth exchange between Yonghui Institute and Asia-Pacific countries in the field of sport for all, following the development of the “Global Active Cities – Asian Standards.”

Centered around the Congress’
s theme of “Enhancing Parent-Child Relationships Through Sport for All,” Li Xiaolin delivered a keynote speech titled “How Sport for All Improves Parent-Child Relationships.” He elaborated on the interaction between individuals and the external world by analyzing the relationships among six key elements—factors, context, object, subject, event, and impact—and broke down the structure of these elements within the process of physical activity. His presentation covered eight key aspects:
- Empowering children to face challenges
- Proactively navigating risk stratification
- Unifying mind, body, and spirit
- Supporting children’s active growth
- Alleviating parent-child conflicts through sports
- Strengthening parent-child affinity via physical activity
- Improving parent-child communication through sports
- Promoting healthy development of youth through athletics

Additionally, Li Xiaolin emphasized the role of sports in helping young people understand the world, pursue non-material values, and develop a more comprehensive value system from the perspective of risk awareness and stratification. He also highlighted the inseparability of body and mind, noting that the mind, body, and spirit can be unified through continuous development. By citing empirical research on parent-child activities, he demonstrated the practical effects of sports in improving communication, enhancing affinity, and reducing conflicts within families.

During the Congress, Li Xiaolin held discussions with executive members of The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA) and ASFAA, and exchanged insights with local Macao sports social organizations on how family sports activities can strengthen parent-child relationships. Both international and local organizations expressed interest in further communication and collaboration with Yonghui Institute.
